How to Submit Advertising Material
to SeaFood Business

SeaFood Business is produced using a totally digital workflow. Printing plates are made directly from digital files for optimum reproduction quality without the use of film. Digital files are accepted via email or FTP, on Zip disk, or CD-Rom.

Submitting Files Through Electronic Media Transfer

File Transfer Protocol - digital files larger than 2MB may be submitted using FTP.

  1. Go to: http://divcom.leapfile.com
  2. Click on “upload files”
  3. Type in Ad Coordinator’s email address in the address field (Receiver email): wjalbert@divcom.com
  4. Fill in your name, email and a description of what you are sending (i.e. “SeaFood Business, March 2008 ad.” Fill out all the fields marked with an asterisk.)
  5. Click the “Notify me” box (you will get a confirmation once the file has been retrieved)
  6. Click "Use basic upload"
  7. Click “Browse…” on file #1 and select the files you would like to send
  8. Repeat for all files you want to send
  9. Click “Send” when all files are selected

Digital File Preferred Formats and Requirements for Color Ad Materials

QuarkXpress for Macintosh (v4.11 and higher) and Indesign (vCS2 and higher) that includes all fonts, screen fonts, and supporting files. We accept the following files for supporting graphics, logos, and art:

  • Adobe Illustrator (v8.0 and higher) eps/ai (PC or Mac)
  • Adobe Photoshop (v4.0 and higher) eps/tiff/pcx (PC or Mac)
  • Adobe Acrobat PDF (v3.0 and higher)

Provide files with a 260 maximum density, standard under-color removal suitable for web offset. 133-line screen preferred, 150-line screen accepted.

When sending digital files for logos, all fonts must be embedded or converted to outlines. Otherwise we cannot guarantee that the logo will output correctly.

The resolution for pixel-based graphics must be 300 dpi or higher. The resolution for line art (including all headlines and text) must be 1200 dpi for optimum reproduction.

Color Proofs are required

All advertisers must submit a high-end contract-level proof for color ads at 100% size with their ad materials, regardless of delivery mode. If materials are sent electronically, an accompanying color proof must be sent via surface mail or delivery service. We accept the following formats:

  • Polaroid PolaProof
  • IMATION Matchprint
  • Iris Pro SWOP
  • Kodak Approval

Should materials arrive without one of the approved color proofs as listed above, advertisers will be charged a $75 fee to obtain one for press match.

Instructions for Black-and-White Ads

Supply bitmap (black-and-white line-art) or grayscale images only. 133-line screen preferred, 150-line screen accepted.

Laser proof is an acceptable form of contract proof for black-and-white ads only, at 100% size, regardless of delivery mode.

Film Specifications

Negative, right reading, emulsion side down, 133-line screen.

A maximum density of 260 is required with standard under-color removal suitable for web offset. A color contract proof is also required to meet SWOP standards.

Any ad materials submitted as film will be converted to digital format. The advertiser will incur a digital conversion charge of $75 per 4-color page.

Production Charges

Production charges will be incurred for file preparation or other services required by the Publisher to make the ad plate-ready. If supplied material does not meet size specifications, charges may be incurred for resizing the ad.

If proofs are requested, copy and art must be submitted a minimum of 7 days prior to the ad close deadline. Proofs are provided on request only for ads requiring production work.
